About us

A small, family-run supply distributor in northwest Ohio, doing one thing carefully rather than everything badly.

What we do

EMS East Distributors purchases unused, sealed, unexpired over-the-counter diabetic test strips from individuals, inspects and verifies each lot, and supplies them to licensed secondary-market distributors and wholesalers.

That's the whole business. We don't sell to consumers, we don't dispense anything, and we don't handle prescription products, controlled substances or medication of any kind.

Why this exists

Diabetes supplies get over-prescribed constantly. Someone's doctor switches them to a new meter and they're left with eight boxes of strips for the old one. Insurance ships a 90-day supply on autopilot whether it's needed or not. A family member passes away and there's a cupboard full of unopened boxes nobody knows what to do with.

Most of that gets thrown out. Meanwhile there are people paying out of pocket at the pharmacy counter for the exact same product because they're uninsured or their plan doesn't cover the brand they need.

We sit in the middle. The person with surplus supplies gets paid instead of throwing them away, and the product gets to someone who'll use it before it expires. Everybody comes out ahead of the alternative, which is a landfill.

How we operate

  • We quote before you ship. You'll always know the number before anything leaves your house.
  • We inspect every box. Seal, expiration date, condition and a lot-number check against the FDA recall database. Every single time.
  • We pay the day it arrives. Not in 30 days, not "on the next payment run."
  • We stay inside the lines. No prescription products, no medication, no government-funded supplies, no opened boxes. We turn away business over this regularly and we're fine with that.

Where we are

We operate out of northwest Ohio and buy from sellers across the United States. If you're local and have a larger lot, we'll come and collect it rather than make you ship it.

Our address and phone number are at the bottom of every page on this site, and there's a person on the other end of both. If something goes sideways with your order we'd rather you call us than wonder.

A note on what we won't do

There's a lot of grey in this industry. Our line is simple: if it needs a prescription, if a government program paid for it, or if the seal is broken, we don't buy it — regardless of what it's worth. That costs us deals. It also means we'll still be here in five years.
